Fitness Testing

VO2 (volume of oxygen consumed) testing reveals what exercise level will optimize a person's ability to burn fat. Measuring the rate of oxygen consumption is equivalent to measuring the amount of calories being used. The term "aerobic exercise" has been commonly used in relation to burning fat. But without V02 testing, fitness pro's have had to rely on crude estimates to determine what level of exercise intensity would be "aerobic" or fat-burning. Now, with V02 testing, you can know the precise level of intensity that will truly maximize the amount of fat YOU burn.

During the test, you will wear a heart rate monitor and a face mask. You will be on a treadmill. I will instruct you to gradually increase your intensity over a 6-15 period. The machine will indicate when you have reached your anaerobic threshold (AT). Once you are in AT zone , lactic acid accumulates in the muscle. This causes your muscles to become fatigued and sore. And you are not burning fat! After you hit your AT zone, I will ask you to stay there for another minutes and you will begin a cool down. Once the test is completed, you will receive a print out how many calories are consumed for every exercise heart rate level.

Metabolic Testing will show you how many calories you burn a day without exercise. The machine tests how much oxygen your body uses in 10 minutes and that will tell you how much energy (or calories) you are burning. If you have had difficulty losing weight, this test will help you understand why. Once you know your metabolic rate, I can design a workout plan that will get your the results you want. If you opt to have the VO2 test, you will know what heart rate zone will burn the most calories. This will get you to your weight goal the quickest. You will be surprised how many people are actually working TOO hard and getting less results. Knowing your metabolic and VO2 rate is key to getting your desired results. Work Smarter, Not Harder.
